The Translational Medicine PhD Programme (TMPhDP) aims to provide the opportunity to pursue medical training and research at the same time, with protected working time for both activities.

The programme is open to anyone who:
1) a recent graduate in medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, dietetics, etc., (MA, DMD degree holder).
2) already in some kind of medical or other professional training.
3) already qualified as a medical specialist.

The main research areas expected are:

  • Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care, Cardiology
  • Infectology and COVID-19
  • Dentistry
  • Gastroenterology, Endocrinology and Dietetics
  • Paediatrics
  • Pharmacy, Naturopathy
  • Gynaecology, Urology, Nephrology
  • Neurology, Psychiatry, Psychology
  • Surgery, Orthopaedics, Traumatology


In any type of training, students in the 1st year of TMPhDP must be able to spend at least 32 hours (4 days) per week on PhD training. After year 1, the weekly academic work may be reduced to a minimum of 8 hours (1 day)/week.
