Publication in the highest quoted physiological journal

This is the first comprehensive summary of the physiological and clinical features of bile acids in translational approach.

ABSTRACT

A number of studies have been published on the physiological and clinical features of bile acids, but a summary that investigates the two areas together in translational approach has so far not been available. It is of great importance that the study reveals new therapeutic pathways in a number of diseases that cause serious public health problems (such as acute pancreatitis, Barrett's esophagus or colon cancer) thus significantly stimulating further research and drug development in these diseases. The authors believe that the scientific discoveries summarized in the paper, are soon to become medications, and new therapies for the benefit of patients.

Hungarian researchers have not been able to enter the paper for years.
