The SUMMER SCHOOL mainly focuses on the second and third step of the Translational Medicine (TM) cycle.
The program helps students to become critical consumers of medical research papers, gather primary data on health issues through observation and inquiry, and conduct biomedical research. Students will gain an understanding of clinical research planning—including systematic reviews, patient registries, and clinical trials—by designing an extended project in study groups led by experienced members of the TM Centre.
Target Audience
- Degree or current studies in health sciences (Candidate, BSc, MSc, MD, DMD, etc.) is preferred.
- Good English communication skills are recommended (minimum B2 level – see details here).
Primary Outcome of the Four-Week Training
- Understand healthcare delivery science as part of the translational medicine cycle.
- Learn the main steps of creating a patient registry, initiating a clinical trial, or conducting a systematic review with meta-analysis.
- Formulate clinical questions using the PICO model and identify evidence from relevant databases.
- Critically appraise clinical research studies with a systematic approach.
- Define the fundamental knowledge and skills required in translational research.
- Expand their professional international network in the field of translational medicine.
