European PEI registry - PEI registry

The appropriate treatment for pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI) is the replacement of missing pancreatic enzymes, which is essential to reduce symptoms associated with malabsorption (diarrhoea, bloating, abdominal pain, weight loss), improve quality of life and reduce mortality.

Currently, there are insufficient guidelines for the management of PEI and there is not always a match between scientific recommendations and actual clinical practice.

The main objective of this registry is to assess the enzyme dose required in real clinical practice to achieve symptom relief and normal nutritional status in PEI patients with different aetiologies. It also aims to answer a number of key clinical questions about the symptoms and management of PEI.
