An institutional partnership to attract top talent, accelerate innovation, and build a stable pipeline of clinician–scientists — without compromising care quality.
Benefits of collaboration
1
Attracting outstanding talent
The hybrid Resident–PhD track offers a unique opportunity for young physicians who aim for excellence in clinical care while building a scientific career.
By joining the programme, your institution becomes a preferred destination for ambitious residents committed for the long term.
2
Fast translation of new science into patient care
PhD research outputs can be integrated into clinical practice directly and within short cycles. This accelerates innovation, strengthens your clinical profile, and supports higher-quality, cost-effective care.
3
Part-time residency option — flexible workforce planning
Amendments to Government Decree 162/2015 (VI. 30.) enable shareable residency quota positions. This allows hospitals to manage human resources more flexibly while maintaining safety and quality of care.
Part-time residents’ income can remain nearly unchanged through the state scholarship (net HUF 140,000–250,000/month), making the model both cost-efficient for the institution and financially predictable for residents.
4
Long-term retention and a highly trained pipeline
Graduates of the supported training tend to stay connected to the institution long term, reducing turnover. The programme develops scientifically minded physicians who can integrate research into patient care.
Soft-skill modules strengthen leadership, collaboration and communication — critical for both individual careers and institutional growth.
5
Providing a co-supervisor
By involving a PhD-qualified colleague, the hospital can provide a co-supervisor in the programme, strengthening institutional prestige, university connections and retention of high-performing staff.
6
Increased national and university visibility
As part of the collaboration, we plan a formal signing ceremony between the University and your hospital, contributing to increased visibility and professional recognition at national and university levels.
Hospitals that chose the Translational Medicine training programme
Established in 2023, the “For Modern Patient Care” Excellence Award recognizes institutions that build a tangible bridge between research and everyday clinical care, delivering measurable benefits for patients.

Szent György University Teaching Hospital of Fejér County (Székesfehérvár)
An early adopter: joined CTM programmes from the start (2018) and continues to graduate new participants year by year.

Completion and signing of the model contract (March–April)
Joint admission procedure
Use this pathway when the resident joins specifically through the hybrid residency–PhD training route.
Existing staff (delegated by the hospital)
Apply by the deadline (via the programme application page)
Admission procedure
Contract signing in September (per student)
