From 19 to 22 October 2026, the Centre for Translational Medicine at Semmelweis University will host its October PhD Defence programme as part of the VIII. Progress Report.

Over four days, doctoral candidates representing a broad range of clinical and translational research fields will present and defend their research before expert committees. The programme highlights the diversity of translational medicine, with topics ranging from dentistry, dermatology and gynecology to cardiology, critical care, gastroenterology, psychiatry and pediatrics.

The programme will also feature two special scientific lectures: Prof. Tamás Szili-Török will present “Robotics at the Frontier of Science: From Innovation to Clinical Impact” on 20 October, while Prof. Robert Sutton will give a lecture entitled “Developing a drug for acute pancreatitis” on 21 October.
