Henriett Vácz is the Head of Secretariat at the Centre for Translational Medicine, carrying out her work as a dedicated team player. Through her conscientious, proactive attitude and excellent organizational skills, she provides the Centre with the support essential for achieving its goals and ensuring its continuous development. Henriett Vácz was honored with the Excellent Staff Member Award by the Centre for Translational Medicine.
Henriett has been working at CTM for three years, and together with her team, she does a great deal to ensure that all processes at the Centre run smoothly. She has numerous responsibilities not only during the semesters but also throughout the summer period. Currently they are organizing a summer university program for Chinese students at CTM. “My colleagues are preparing a two-week workshop for this event, during which participants will gain insight into the professional and interpersonal skills emphasized in CTM’s training program. They will also learn about the process of conducting meta-analyses and the statistical knowledge required to carry them out. These workshops provide an introduction to our translational medicine program.”
Henriett’s team also manages the administrative matters related to colleagues joining and leaving CTM. In practice, this means maintaining continuous contact with prospective colleagues, guiding them through the onboarding process, and preparing all the necessary documents to ensure that new employees can join the Centre smoothly. “When hiring new colleagues, we arrange the necessary approvals from the Rector and manage the recognition of degree certificates. We also coordinate the entire onboarding process. Our tasks are often complex, but we can handle anything.”
The admissions period is currently underway at CTM, which also involves numerous responsibilities for Henriett. “For the next academic year, we plan to admit more than one hundred students. However, the number of applicants is even higher, which means that we need to process all applications. As part of this work, we receive student applications and verify the applicants’ personal details. We also assess whether their English proficiency is sufficient for them to pursue their studies at our Centre. The first round of admissions has just concluded, and the second round is about to begin. A supplementary admissions round will also take place in August.”
The admission interviews are conducted by a committee that includes Prof. Dr. Péter Hegyi, senior faculty members, and representatives of the Students’ Union. “My responsibility is to coordinate the colleagues who prepare the above-mentioned processes and contribute to their implementation. A significant part of the work is carried out by Réka Kaltenecker in the field of academic affairs and by Anna Ignáczné Fodor in the field of human resources. Our new colleagues also contribute to the team as secretarial experts: Leticia Fábos is primarily responsible for international affairs, while Tímea Dudics handles both academic and international matters. They are both highly capable and have integrated into our team quickly and exceptionally well.”
